Everyone deserves
to belong

We’re a team of experienced business leaders, search and HR professionals who have recognised that meaningful diversity, equity and inclusion can’t be achieved at the point of hiring. It also concerns us that many DEI initiatives focus on vertical groups that can become about exclusivity not inclusivity.

If diversity is everyone then the answer must include everyone.

We believe the solution to creating an environment where everyone belongs is to build authentic relationships with people who are different to you - whoever you might be. We accept that, love it or hate it, who-you-know culture isn’t going anywhere and the most effective way to create change is to change who you know.

Whether it’s to grow knowledge, understanding and empathy or meet and create opportunities for talent - having a diverse network is at the heart of it. Harnessing the power of networking to build an inclusive future where everyone belongs.

There’s lots of good intention but not enough action. I want to help people do something.

Lee Higgins - Founder

A statement about diversity statements

We understand why it’s important that every organisation has a diversity statement. We also know that for all the fine words and good intentions, meaningful progress is painfully slow. We’d rather offer action than words. But if you'd like to know our point of view, right now it goes like this...

Is there a more overused word than diversity?

So often and easily said; harder to define. The differences between us sit on a very wide spectrum, not just a few obvious verticals based on what we look like, where we’re from or what gender we are. There's an overlapping intersection of myriad identifiers that both can and can’t be seen. The sort of things you only find out when you get to know someone.

It’s why we believe that talking to each other and building relationships over time is a more effective way of creating an inclusive environment.

Surface diversity

In our opinion the word diversity shouldn’t be considered in isolation. It’s meaningless without genuine equity and real inclusion. The representation achieved by a target-driven, box-ticking approach means historically-overlooked talent might be getting hired but that’s not the same as being properly included. 'The Great Resignation' is full of those who found themselves in places where they felt like they never really belonged. With a seat at the table but not necessarily a voice that is heard, much less listened to.

Diversity is all of us

In order to bypass natural bias and create fairness the human element has been downplayed and recruitment decisions are based on data. But this well-meaning push to dehumanise the process has inadvertently dehumanised the humans in the process. And that’s not good for anyone.

The word diversity shouldn’t be a label that marks some of us out as ‘other’. A diverse workforce should encompass everyone.

Lee Higgins

Founder & Co-Managing Director

Having witnessed too many examples of discrimination and bias throughout his time in executive search, Lee grew tired of the lack of meaningful action on DEI. He wanted to create a unique service that enabled leaders who care to finally do something that went beyond statements of good intention.
